There’s a Million Ways To Make A Living

STORM BENNETT MAY HAVE THE best idea for a business that anyone in the world has ever thought of. Storm is a creative and aggressive guy. He owns an advertising agency in Cincinnati called Killerspots.

He has his own studio and part of his selling point to his customer base is Killerspots can do everything on-site, in their office. Rewind to 1998. Storm was a young 26-year-old guy who was working for a new nightclub chain called Yucatan Liquor Stand. He had been working in Houston, Texas for the company and they sent him to Cincinnati to promote the Yucatan locations in Cincinnati and Columbus.

NYE Countdown creates that “party-all-night” energy at venues which
keep the crowds dancing, engaged, and drinking way past the stroke
of midnight to boost and maximize profits at the bar![/caption]

A graduate of Belair High School in Belair, Maryland and the University of Maryland, Salisbury, Storm decided to start his own advertising agency in early 1999. Looking for ideas to grow his business and help the Yucatan Liquor Stands, he came up with the idea that, since the world was heading into a NEW MILLENIUM in 2000, he would put together a custom audio program that the Yucatan Liquor Stands could play in the final five minutes leading up to midnight on New Years Eve.

Killerspots sells their NYE Countdown package to over 1,300 companies, including nightclubs, casinos, hotels, resorts, DJ companies, etc.

The idea was a huge success! Storm thought, if he could do it for Yucatan, why couldn’t he do it for other nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, etc.?

From that idea, Storm and his Killerspots Advertising Agency has built the
concept into an unbelievable business called NYE Countdown.

Over the past 17 years, this is how big his idea has become:
• NYE Countdown now offers both an audio package and an audi /video package.
• Killerspots sells their New Year’s Eve package to over 1,300 companies, including nightclubs, casino’s, hotels, resorts, DJ companies, etc.
• NYE Countdown is sold in all 50 states and over 90 countries around the world.
• Killerspots offers the package in seven different languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Dutch, and Chinese.

Customers can purchase just the audio, or audio and video together, with different time segments. Some packages are for just the 5 minutes leading up to midnight, others expand to another 5 to 10 minutes after 12 midnight. Killerspots also can customize the package for their customers to include photographs, logos, etc.
When asked about the cost for these packages, the successful Bennett said, “We start at just $70.00 for the audio, go up to $150.00 for the audio/video and then if the client wants to customize and brand it, that would be additional.”

What’s really amazing about Bennett’s business is that he can do everything inside his Killerspots offices in Cincinnati. “We produce it all in our studio and email to our customers around the world,” he explained.

“The great thing about this concept is that around 90% of our customers from all over the world
just re-up with us annually.” – Storm Bennett

“The great thing about this concept is that around 90% of our customers from all over the world just re-up with us annually.” Bennett has grown his Killerspots Agency into one of the most successful in Cincinnati over the years. In 2010 he was honored as one of Cincinnati Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40”. He continues to be active in the business – volunteering and working with local
charities including the Make a Wish Foundation, Living With Change Foundation and the Patty Brisben Foundation. For more information about Killerspots or NYE Countdown 2019, contact Storm Bennett at Killerspots Advertising Agency. Phone number is 513-201-1380.

Wearing Many Hats

“While on set with my TV co-host it came up that my BMW could get 34 MPG. She didn’t believe me at first but once her mouth dropped after seeing it did, I then realized I should’ve bet her more money!” jokes Storm Bennett, owner of a BMW 5 Series

Storm Bennett wears many hats: TV personality, entrepreneur, business owner, winner of several local and national awards and, most significantly, dad. Each of the hats he wears entails a different job and, of course, a different outlook on life

Judging alone by his numerous professional awards, his success in television, and his flourishing business ventures, he has mastered these roles and relationships and thus begins a new one. “Being a dad to a baby girl is something that cannot be explained with words. There’s no manual or book that can begin to tell you the joy that this child will bring. Keeping her safe and protected is now my most important job, one reason I continue to drive BMWs and chose the BMW 5 series,” comments Storm.

The BMW 5 Series plays a role in Storm’s life and to each of these important jobs. Driving clients, getting him quickly from point A to B or transporting the two incredible women in his life, he knows that he can always count on his BMW 5 Series. Not only does it carry many safety features but as Storm says, “it has sexy curves, incredible MPG and the performance of this BMW is second to none.”

At The BMW Store we realize that our customers have many duties and responsibilities, that’s why we maintain convenient hours, offer a wi-fi enabled campus, provide courtesy vehicles and, most importantly, cultivate a brand that is second to none.

Walk On Your Website

Personality is one of the strongest marketing assets for a business. People base buying decisions on your likeability, passion and trustworthiness. If they like you, they’ll be motivated to buy from you.

Video is one of the best ways to showcase this personality, as it enables business owners to personally communicate with their prospects. That’s why Storm Bennett, on-air personality and owner of Killerspots, Inc. Creative Media Service, developed a new technology – Walk On™ Site – to take multimedia on clients’ sites to the next level.

“Walk On™ are actors or clients ‘walking on’ their websites as a video spokesperson to increase leads, inform users of events or promotions, guide users through their website to explain a product, service or even make a purchase,” Bennett says. “It’s an instant conversion tool.”

Everything is programmed, shot, edited, hosted and maintained by Anderson-based Killerspots, Inc. “Walk On™ is not a reseller service,” says Bennett. “We are Walk On™.”

How does it work? The Walk On™ technology is IP enabled to remember each time your website visitor comes back. So, it knows when it’s your website visitor’s first time and when they come back.

“Our Walk On™ technology is intelligent so the actors and actress are not intrusive, but highly effective to give you that ‘Call to Action’ you require,” Bennett says. “Everything is customized to fit your needs and industry.”

You can have the Walk On™ actor start immediately as your visitors enter your website or the Walk On™ actor can be activated by the visitor by clicking a small “Play Me” button placed anywhere you wish on your website. “The Walk On™ technology is so advanced that the actors or the business owner can be displayed as little or as many times you would like or even rotate with other actors to make your site more engaging and compelling,” explains Bennett.

Walk On videos can also be scheduled during certain parts of the day as a precise marketing tool. When you click on the Walk On™ actor, it has the ability to link your visitor to a page of your choice like a Submit form, a downloadable coupon or even a Shopping Cart, which can be changed at anytime, as many times as you want at no additional cost. You can even track how your Walk On™ actors are performing on your websites.

Bennett says his team is constantly making advancements to the technology, too. “Walk On™ technology is updated and monitored for each of our clients daily and hosted on a dedicated server to ensure your Walk On™ actor is always on your websites 24/7,” he says. “This also ensures a faster loading speed for more efficient results.”

While there are various Walk On™ packages, Bennett says “Walk On™ technology is the most cost effective way to advertise your products and services on the internet today to get the results you need.” In addition, each Walk On™ includes scripting, actors, shooting sessions, editing, audio and graphics, link updates, back-end tracking and dashboard, hosting and maintenance.

“You have only seven seconds to entice that visitor and potential customer to contact you or buy. If you don’t, they are off to your competition within a click,” says Bennett. “With a Walk On Site on your website, the odds of keeping that visitor and converting them into a sale goes up dramatically. Some of our clients have reported more than 80% increases in lead generation!”

Bennett defied expectations for career in broadcasting

Forty Under 40 2010 Winner

James “Storm” Bennett, 39 is the president of Killerspots.com, a production house and ad agency he founded in 1997. Back when he was 19, a professor told him he’d never make it in the world of broadcast – but Bennett has spent more than 20 years as a radio host, DJ, television personality and national voiceover artist.

Q: Where do you go for advice?

I get advice all the time. It’s great, sound advice that’s hard to come by. I get my advice from very successful business people and seasoned professional who have been through it all. I get a lot of advice from my dad, who is a senior sales and marketing account executive for 3M, as well as my longtime mentor Joe Blackmon, CEO of ChillsThrills.com

Q: How are you tackling the current economic challenges in your business life?

A day at a time like most business owners. I might be weird, but I seem to get more motivated because of the challenges. It seems to keep me on my toes and (make me) strive even harder.

Q: What part of your job do you enjoy the most?

Our morning meetings. I am a sucker for camaraderie and creative ideas bouncing around a room.

Q: if you could do something dangerous one time with no risk, what would you do?

I would love to be the president of the United States. Republican, of course. I would help small business sowers with tax cuts and other incentives so we could afford to do more hiring and help this economic downward spiral. You did say, “with no risk,” right?

Q: What professional accomplishment do you hope to achieve by the age of 40?

Improve my golf game!

Q: What personal accomplishment do you hope to achieve by the age of 40?

I would like to finish my private pilot’s license. We are close.

Q: What reality show would you go on, and why?

I would like to go on a reality show that has a beach.

Q: Talk briefly about your most life-changing experience

My most life-changing experience was when I was 19 and my first boss told me I would never be on the radio, TV, or be a cuccess in this industry. HE was a director and professor at a college in Maryland and I volunteered for: The director even wrote me a letter; which I have framed and put on my wall as inspiration.

Q: What’s your pet peeve?

I loathe when I hold a door for someone, and they don’t say thank you! Hate that!

Q: Do you believe everything happens for a reason?

I certainly do. One door closes, another one opens
